Here’s a look at two of the free email marketing service provider options available to smaller or mid-size businesses – before your business might require something like ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, Infusionsoft or Ontraport.
In a future post, I might cover some of the big business heavy hitters like Marketo, Pardot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
MailChimp vs. MailerLite
MailerLite offers free emails up to 1,000 subscribers. MailChimp wins in the “more free” category, offering free emails up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month.
Both MailChimp and MailerLite provide a nice variety of email templates.
3. eCommerce Integration
Both MailChimp and MailerLite allow for integration with Shopify.
4. Reporting and Tracking
Both options report the open rate, the links clicked and what location in the world the email was opened. MailChimp is slightly better with social and e-commerce tracking for optimizing e-commerce.
5. Automation Sequences (Drip Email Marketing)
While autoresponders and automation are free in both, MailerLite’s automation is easier to use and provides state-of-the-art drip email marketing.
6. Customer Satisfaction Ranking
However according to an article in Forbes, one of the main differences between these two is customer satisfaction. MailerLite has around-the-clock customer support which may contribute to their higher rating.
